Full letter to IAFA Preseident
"Hi Andrew,
Further to our conversation last night and again this morning, I wish to confirm that Football South Coast as the FNSW affiliated governing body for this Zone, supports the use of all Council Grounds for use by the IAFA. The FSC does not allocate or make any decisions in regards to use of Council Grounds, nor does (or will) FSC Board direct or advise the Councils on whether IAFA Clubs should use Council Grounds. FSC does have an official coordination role with all local Councils in ensuring the priorities & access to Council Grounds for its member Clubs are well maintained & preserved so as FSC Competitions are undertaken under our auspices. I believe the mis-information & mis-understanding is that IF an IAFA Club has a ground allocation or time allocation clash with an IFA/IJFA/IWFA/Stingrays/Wolves member club (affiliated to FSC) then priority will be given to those FSC Member Clubs over the IAFA Club - as is the current & as has been the past practice before. So there is no change whatsoever and no involvement or obstacles from FSC. The only issue for the IAFA Club may be if an IAFA Club wishes to use a ground that is ready & available BUT any other Tier 1 Category Sport (AFL, OzTag, Cricket) wants to use that same ground, then those Tier 1 Sports will be given priority over that IAFA Club for use of that ground. Again, this does not mean the IAFA Club will not get to use that ground over AFL or Cricket, it just means if there is no solution or compromise, then the IAFA (Social Sport category) will be at a lower priority than a Tier 1, State Accredited Body/Association. But this allocation of Council Grounds does not involve Football South Coast and Football South Coast has not directed or discussed with Shellharbour Council or Wollongong Council NOT to give the IAFA Clubs use of Council grounds, in fact we (FSC) cannot see any changes to your current arrangements with Councils & various Clubs, unless there is a clash (double booking) for use of those grounds with a Tier 1 Sport. It is also important to note that FSC Board, has not directed or advised any FSC Member Club (through the various Associations) not to allow access to any IAFA Club to its grounds or facilities if they are available. As Chairman of Football South Coast, I assure you that the FSC Board fully supports & endorses the use of Council Grounds by all IAFA Member Clubs and any assistance that is required and/or if there are any issues in accessing Council grounds, that do not clash with existing FSC affiliated member clubs use of grounds, in either Shellharbour or Wollongong LGA, that may impact on the IAFA Competition, then I and my Board would make all appropriate representations to ensure the IAFA Competitions are not compromised. I trust this clears up any mis-information that has circulated unnecessarily over the last 24-48 hours. I thank you for making quick & direct contact with me to ensure that this matter was cleared-up and ensured your member club’s interests and your competitions are preserved. Best Regards, and please contact me if you require any further assistance. Thanks Andrew Eddy De GabrieleChairman Football South Coast |
